Mental Health Awareness day – October 10. We are led to Pslam 43 – the verse that sticks out – Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Pondering it for a second – and a second longer. Am reminded of a conversation from the weekend – a person battling suicidal thoughts. “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me?” In the moment, active listening, asking questions, taking hold of the lie and replacing it with truth was my duty. Again, I’ll say - Take the thought captive – remove it – and replace it with truth; it can feel demanding – but the result is worth the strain. The psalmist goes on to declare- Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. It’s a beautiful thing – hope. Beautiful and powerful.
If you find yourself in a battle – go forth with full authority – the battle is to actively declare truth!
Replace anxiety with peace.
Replace depression with joy.
Replace unworthy with fully worthy.
Replace shame with delight.
Replace fear with strength.
Praise be for the victor in this story! Stronger than before. More equipped than before. Put your hope in God; for you will again find praise.
